On Friday 15th March, Eric, the first friend I made here in Melbourne after relocating from Sydney with my wife Maja, married his partner, Jack. Eric and Maja worked together for many years and thus, I was honoured and deeply touched to be presiding over their wedding.
Eric and Jack had chosen a small, select, intimate group to be with them on this special evening, gathered under the stars on their balcony and we were all there to offer our support for their marriage and to wish them every happiness for their lives together.
Eric and Jack’s story started via a dating app and from that random meeting they decided to share their lives together.
As the two of them entered into this marriage, uniting as husband and husband, I asked that they always remember to cherish each other as special and unique individuals, that they respect each others thoughts, feelings, ideas and suggestions, as from this day forward they will be each others home, comfort, sanctuary and refuge. Their marriage would be strengthened by this mutual support and respect for each other.
To those of us with a life partner (lucky), remind yourself often of what brought you together and give the highest priority to that connection.
